David's Story
Life
Greetings All: After graduation from Saydel in 1959 and following a "Near-Death Experience" and five week coma caused by a car wreck on 12-18-59 (my 18th birthday), I completed Pharmacy School at Drake University in 1964.
I worked in the Chicago area as a Registered Pharmacist and raced Sports Cars until returning to Law School at Drake in 1968. I was married twice and had no kids [I was a good Pharmacist. :-)].
After working for Legal Aid from 1971 to 1973, I joined a private firm in Des Moines for a year and a half. I then started my own Law Firm in Des Moines. My firm grew to six attorneys and I worked 100 hour weeks for 10 years. I then "burnt-out" and semi-retired in 1981.
After traveling for two years, I moved to Seattle, WA in 1983. From 1983 to present I have semi-worked as an attorney doing only Personal Injury litigation. I now serve as "of counsel" with another law firm in Edmonds, WA (on the North edge of Seattle) and work as desired.
I enjoy traveling frequently and try to get back to Des Moines at least a couple times per year. Definitely look forward to meeting ol...Expand for more
d friends and getting together as we jointly race toward our ultimate greatest and final "graduation"... HAVE FUN & ENJOY!
UPDATE 2006: In 2005, I was named to the Executive Board of Directors for the Brain Injury Association of Washington. Our work is to assist survivors of traumatic brain injuries. In addition, the National racing association DIRT Motorsports, has selected me to be its Chairman of Appellate Board and also Chairman of its Competition Eligibility Panel for the 2006 season.
DIRT Motorsports promotes the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, as well as the World of Outlaws Late Model and Modified Series cars nationwide.
Let's ALL look foward to a great 2006 and the future!
UPDATE 2008: This year World Racing Group (DIRT Motorsports) has named me its National Commissioner Potestas. In this role I act as the final decision-maker for any dispute arising in the DIRT racing industry. Nice.
Next June 2009 both my high schools, North and Saydel are planning their 50th reunions! Amazing that most of us have made it. Hope to see ALL us "survivors" next June!
Keep smiling,
Dave
