David's Story

Life My daughter caught my bio and thought I needed to update it...to let any friends that I have left...know more...(about her LOL) I married in 1986 to Karen Cain (from T.J. in Dallas) and have two wonderful kids, daughter Amanda (19) who is now at Ole Miss and pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma and wants to be a pedatritian. My son John David (15) is just starting high school and doesn't have a clue yet, but who does when they are 15...so I guess I won't be able to retire until I'm at least 60....But they are both wonderful kids...hard to believe they're mine! We lived in NW Garland for 15 years, and moved to Kingwood (NE Houston) in 1998. I've lost a few in my family the last few years (on both sides) and it starts to finally set in just how important our families are to us no matter how many miles separate us....which leads me to say we'll be leaving Texas in a few years and moving to Alabama to be closer to family (where most of my family has always been) I play a little golf every now then..mainly with my kiddo to teach him what little I know. We have the occasional hunting and fishing trips and I stay involved in coaching baseball every summer (although its getting harder with all the work related travel), but if I didn't need to work...Expand for more
in another profession to earn $$$ for my family, I would make a career coaching baseball for free! I've been retail construction management for many years on a national level, but the last year I've made some what of a career change. I now just do a few construction projects a year as a general contractor for a nationwide company, and I'm also involved in the transportation business as an agent...that allows my wife to work from home. I still travel quite a bit which brings me to Dallas often, which also allows me to drop by "Pizza Villa" in Richardson to bring back half baked pizza's for dinner in Houston (the one thing in Dallas we really miss). I have stayed in touch with a few of you, but would like to see a few more....It would be nice to get together some time with some of you every now and then, Dallas isn't that far away for me....why wait for a reunion every 5-10 years. Try to stay in touch with everyone you can....you can never have too many friends! To those old friends, who have lost parents that I knew...I'm sorry that I wasn't around to see them again before they left us. And to Judy S...one of my oldest friends...from Caldwell...thank you for all you've done over the years. My prayers are with you and your family!
