David's Story
Since 1995 I have been living in College Station, Texas and serving the First Baptist Church of College Station as Minister of Education. My duties have been enlarged to include financial administration and associate pastor roles as well.
I met my wife Kathy (nee-McCaleb)at Howard Payne and we were married in December 1969. After graduation, we moved to Ft. Worth where I attended the previous Southwestern Seminary. (I don't claim the current one) I earned my Batchelor's and Master's degrees in a total of 4 1/2 years with Kathy's help.
After seminary I began full time Christian Education ministry and have served churches in Edna, Victoria, Lubbock, Irving, Little Rock, and now College Station.
While I was in Irving, I returned to Seminary to earn a Doctorate at Southwestern seminary in 1992.
Our two children were born in Edna, Texas. Kayla in February 1974, and Stephen in December 1975. They are both married and have presented to us three of the most precious granddaughters ever.
From childhood I have been in love with airplanes. I began flying models at age 5, progressed to full scale flying in High School, ultimately earning a commercial pilot's license. With the cost of flying ever e...Expand for more
scalating, in the past 10-12 years I have returned to my love of flying models.
Growing up in the home of a professional photographer, I learned photography early. I worked at TJHS and HPC as a photographer. For a while I had a darkroom in my home, but have gone digital and sold all my darkroom equipment.
In the last 10 years Kathy and I have had numerous opportunities to take groups on overseas tours. We have led groups to England, Italy, Greece, Germany and Switzerland. In addition we have personally traveled in Brazil, Canada, Alaska and Hawaii. If God allows me to retire from full-time ministry I hope to continue to take groups on overseas travel at least once a year.
I have continued to play guitar for my own pleasure and amusement. I have added a classical and a 12-string to go along with the old 6 string Kay archtop that my folks gave me with I was about 10 years old. I've also acquired a 5 string banjo and enjoy strumming it.
I've kept the Ham radio license that I originally got in 1964, call - WA5PBZ. I've made confirmed contacts in all 50 states and over 100 foreign countries on the ham radio bands.
I will periodically update this info, but that's all I can think of for now.
