David's Story

Music and computer science have been twin tracks in my life. I attended the University of Delaware from 1974 - 1980 with a double major in music and computer science. From 1976-1980 I was the bass trombonist with the Delaware Symphony, and from 1977-1980 I worked full time at the University computing center as a systems programmer. I attended Northwestern University in 1980-1981 as a graduate student in music. I lived in Chicago from 1981-1988, working for the Burroughs/Unisys corporation in systems software support and studying the trombone and working as a freelance trombonist. phony in Albuquerque, NM in 1988 as bass trombonist. I've lived here in ABQ most of the time since then. I commuted between ABQ and Chicago for a couple of years in the '90s, doing software design and implementation in Chicago. I spent the 2004-2005 season as bass trombonist in the Phoenix Symphony (I just kept moving west!), rejoined the NMSO in September 2005, and then spent 2006 and most of 2007 working for a software company in Iowa. I moved back to Albuquerque in October 2007, and I hope to stay here for a while! I'm single and have no children. I hope there is another class of '74 reunion someday...
