David's Story

Life Do i look the same as before??? LOL, Nope! Well it's been a long but fun road. Some good and some bad. I got married and i worked hard and played hard. I attended alot of colleges and universities, worked for a few engineering firms then transistioned to the Local government arena. During this time, I played in bands as a drummer for over 6 years. In 1990, we recorded our first deal, and i traveled with the band to Raleigh to record another master with Mich Easter, (who helped get REM started) While at his studio, i met Bruce Springstein and Steve Van Zant (E-Street Band, Little Steve back then, he also played in the Sopranos) In 93, at the age of 26, I built a huge house in Deep Creek on a 3rd acre. I had planned on filling it with lots of toys and kids. I got the toys but no kids, LOL. During this same time, i became a member of the Masonic organization and soon was Knighted by Knights Templar of VA in 95. In June of 95, i decided to buy a jetski, and little did i know, that a huge enclosed trailer, a 28' Boat, a 26' motorhome, one more jetski, two new trucks, sponsors etc. would follow. I began racing Nationally for about 6 years. Man i was busy, but it was fun. Still, I worked a full time job, flew to most of the races, played the drums, worked in the yard, you name it i was doing it. In 99, i got divorced and everything came to a screeching hault. That sucked. I kept the house, but all the toys had to go, i was a sad puppy. One income could not support my natural adrenaline habit, LOL. I attemped another career change with VA State Police, and it was looking good until i dislocated my shoulder in the academy. I got rid of the house and moved to Newport News, and began working for FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) as a GIS Specialist. I met alot of good people. The job required me to move up to Northern VA in 2000 so i did. In 2000 after Bush came into office, all the good people started leaving FEMA so i left too. Hence, the ...Expand for more
decline in FEMAs reputation now. I worked as a GIS and database consultant for a year and floundered. In 2001, I became a private investigator, interesting huh??? However, I did not work in domestic related issues. Instead I chose accident reconstruction and tactical surveillance and countermeasures (what????) lol. In basic terms, bug sweeping and wiretapping discovery. We were hired by companies and important people to find this stuff. We also did (and get this) exotic boat and plane repossesions) LOL. This was more fun, however, extremely dangerous, and after taking a yacht from South America and plane from the Middle East, and while doing undercover intel-recon prior to 911 attacks, i stopped this adventure. Had too many close calls with my life almost ending. Yes, my boss was retired airforce intelligence brass, so we also performed DoD intelligence recon. That's all i can say at this point. In 2002, I decided to work for Loudoun County government heading up a surveying department. I got creative in the GPS and stormwater industry and put them on the map with this technology concering the EPAs Clean Water Act regulations and initiatives. In 2005, i was approached by several national homebuilding companies. Environmental laws were getting more difficult, so these guys needed some guidance. I went to work for Centex Homes in Northern VA, as a environmental compliance officer. This was a great job and I built a good reputation as an expert in this field. In 2007 i started an Environmental/Stormwater Compliance/Law business called Ward Stormwater Compliance Group, LLC. (WSWC Group)Its going well, and it pays the bills. I am steadily getting more clients. Currently, i am single, have no kids (that i know of) live alone in a 3 level townhouse, and enjoy outdoors and social events etc. I play golf, racquetball, darts, pool, etc. Anyway, I hope this keeps you up to speed with my life. Are we having another reunion or what??? lol Keep me posted!
