David's Story
Life
I'm married with 4 boys ages 9 to 23 and two grandsons. I work as a TV engineer in Washington, DC. Our family is involved in Community Theater, Scouting, and singing in Scottish Galic. My wife works as a Travel Agent which allows us to take some great vacations.
Workplace
I started working at the Captal Centre in 1977 as a sound and lighting technician. I was there for 3 1/2 years until I was hired by WJLA-TV as a 9 month temporary engineering technician in early 1981. at nearly every engineering position there, including master control, video tape, camera, lighting, audio and technical director. I also worked as an operations supervisor until I moved into Engineering Maintenance. In that capacity, I have been resposible for installing new equipment and keeping the station and it's equipment operating properly. I was a part of the team that designed and built the last two studio facilities that we have been in. I have been awarded two Emmys for live audio work. I also used to do free lance audio work for several sports networks, including ABC, HTS, USA, ESPN, MSG, and "Hockey Night in Canada".
