David's Story
Life
In 21 years that I have worked at the Library of Congress I have gone from as GS-9 to a GS-13. I am a cataloger, which, admittedly is not everyone's cup of tea, but it suits my compulsively organizing personality. I routinely work in Italian and German (two languages I learned after moving to Washington) and occasionally in Latin (self-taught), Dutch, and Afrik...Expand for more
aans (I can fake them because they're close enough to German). I also speak fluent Spanish and have translated a Spanish novel into English for publication in the United States. The author and I are planning to be legally married in Spain after my retirement, since Spain has now legalized same-sex marriage. I plan to move there permanently, probably early in 2010.
