Dawn's Story
2010
So, an update to the story below. Hitting the even bigger "52" this year. All the kids have graduated from college, are on their own and paying their own bills. (As a parent, that's success for me!) I am not yet a grandmother (thank god) although at some point I am sure that will happen! Darrin and Mike share a house with 2 other room mates in San Diego and Nicole has remained on the East Coast. My move to the home office here in New Jersey has been a good one, I'm now the Director of World Wide Training & Development and loving it. It's very gratifying to play an integral role in helping others to reach their potential and to succeed. We are just coming out on the other side of a winter with the most snow we've had since moving here and are looking forward to putting the snow shovels away. Barry and I keep busy going to concerts at least twice a month as there are so many venues close to home. We are also training for a Century Ride (100 miles) on my birthday. Not sure what I was thinking when I put that goal out there but what the heck, it's on that list of "things I want to do".
Thanks for reading.

Wow, I can't believe I hit the big "50" this year-how about that for making you feel old! SO for those of you who are curious enough to read, here's what I've been doing for the last 23 years since the good old days at SBHS. I graduated from LMU in 1979 and immediately married my college sweetheart, Greg McDonald. Greg and I were married for 12 and a half years and have 3 great kids, Darrin who is 24, Mike who is 22 and Nicole who is 20. We divorced in 1992 but have remained on very good terms as we sha...Expand for more
red custody of our children. He continues to live in Camarillo, CA where we moved in 1981. I lived in Ojai, CA with my husband Barry who I married in 1996, until May of 2006 when the bi-coastal commuting of my world-wide job just became too much. I am working for Johnson & Johnson as the World Wide Manager of Sales Training (after success in sales and sales management in the field in California). Our operating company headquarters is in in New Jersey and we have lived here for almost 2 years. Darrin and Mike remained in CA to finish college and both will graduate this May. Darrin from Cal State Channel Islands and Mike from the University of San Diego. Nicole, my daughter, made the move to the east coast and is a Junior at Rutgers. As many of you can probably relate, having all your kids in college at the same time is NOT A GOOD IDEA! But. we are almost done and I can hardly wait. My husband Barry and I are absolutely addicted to cycling, both road riding and mountain biking-we have traveled to the Tour de France twice on cycling vacations and I am proud to say that I have climbed Alpe d' Heuz twice. We were fortunate to see Lance Armstrong win twice. Last summer we spent two weeks cycling in Italy where we searched relentlessly for a bad meal and could not find one. The only down side to living in NJ rather than Ojai is that our cycling season is shorter, however we have both put in a lot of miles in our basement (which is very weird to have coming from CA). We love living 45 min from New York City and I still enjoy the shock effect of telling people we moved here from Southern CA. Well, thanks for reading.
