Dawn's Story
Life
I have many good memories of high school; it was a lot of fun. Since then: I married an American scientist, Tim Johnson, originally from Minnesota, but who worked at York U for awhile, then we moved to Boston. In 2000, we moved to Pasco, Washington also known as the Tri-Cities (ironically, the biggest nuclear waste area of the United States - so I still get those stupid "do you glow" jokes), and in 2008 we moved across the river to Richland, WA. It is a desert, very sunny, and not very crowded - the middle of the Columbia Basin with three rivers surrounded by the Rockies, the Cascades and the Blue Mountains. Very pretty and peaceful, in a desolate kind of way. Yes, we have tumbleweeds! This area is also known for Washington state wines - we have more than 300 wineries now, all within an hour's drive.

alysis in June of 2017, and had a live donor kidney transplant in June of 2018. A friend that lives in Michigan donated to me. Fortunately, the surgery went well and we are both recovering nicely. The new kidney's name is Pancha!
We enjoy skiing, white water rafting, travelling, and going to hockey games. For 11 years, we billetted hockey players for our local WHL affiliate - the Tri-City Americans. Our famous alum - Carey Price - is now playing with the Montreal Canadiens. This was my devious method to have more Canadians than Americans in my home! During that time, we had 2 wonderful female university students stay with us as well. We have always had dogs but our last passed during my kidney battles. We were told to wait 6 months to get another after transplant. In early 2019 we found Harrison - a 100 lb goofball. He is awesome!
Currently (for work) I am a grade 6 teacher in the Pasco School District.
