Dawn's Story
Life
Hello SPHS Class of 1975! My married name is Kim Kochara and I reside in beautiful Casselberry, Florida. I had enough of the cold winters and the shoveling of snow so it was not a hard decision for my husband and me to move south!
Currently, I am the Director of Nursing programs at Orange Technical College here in the Orlando, FL area.
After practicing as a registered nurse for 15 years, I went back to school and received my bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) from the University of Phoenix-Online and completed my Doctor of Health Science (DHSc) degree from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
It is hard to get used to people calling me Dr. Kochara!! I am very excited to have reached my educational goals--for now. I am always looking into learning more!
My children are all out of the house--finally--and I am the proud "Mimi" of six beautiful grandchildren; Alyssa, 21 (who is soon to enter...Expand for more
her senior year in college studying criminology), Tabitha, 20, Mikayla, 17, Joey, 16, Killean, 18 months, and Declan, 4 months. I still have close ties to the Pittsburgh area as my children/grandchildren live in Altoona, PA, and my husband's family lives in the Central PA area as well.
We visit PA often; however, we still do not like the cold and, at this point, do not anticipate moving back to the area. Visiting will do just fine... mostly in the summertime!!
In my spare time (what little there is of it), I enjoy going to the beaches here in Florida, spending time with my husband, Richard, and running after Tiki, my Yorkshire terrier (all two pounds of her!) and Leo, my 'big' Yorkie, who is 6 lbs. My goodness...the smaller the dogs, the faster their legs move!!! I also enjoy sitting by my pool with a margarita!
