Dawn's Story
Life
Bryan and I got married on June 22. It was a beautiful ceremony, and the rain held off just long enough for the outdoor ceremony and pictures. We just returned from our honeymoon in Kauai. What an amazing experience.
College
I wouldn't want to relive the college days. I did it the hard way - on the six year plan. Went to BU for two and a half years before I realized that any subject I was interested in wasn't going to lead to a job I had interest in (though I did manage to get myself into a fair amount of trouble while I was there, so that was worth it). So I took some time off, went to a career counselor, and wound up attending UMass Lowell for four years. Of course I was working full time all four years, so I can time manage like nobody's business! I did finally get my Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design. And I hated the whole thing so much by the end that I haven't gone near it since. But hey, I have the deg...Expand for more

Workplace
I got into the tech industry during my school hiatus, starting at Unitrode making ICs. I moved up to a sweet process tech position at Nortel until they went under. Well, I hated the job, but the pay was excellent. I was at my boyfriend's workplace when I found out I was being laid off. The owner said he would take care of me. I reluctantly agreed to work at least through Christmas (this was August). Its now four years and a degree later, and I'm still there. But I've managed to work my way up from sales rep to Retail Operations Manager. This job has nothing to do with my background or my degree. Its actually my first retail job, but I love it. Not that there aren't bad days, but I'm respected by employer and employees, make decent if not fantastic money, and actually enjoy going to work in the morning. Of course, the fact that I don't have to be there till ten doesn't hurt...
