Dawn's Story
I grew up in Havelock, well mostly. It seems to be the place we always returned to after a briefly lived relocation. I did eveerything in Havelock. I was a little league cheerleader, Saints, in fourth grade. I was a patrol at West Havelock Elementary in sixh grade. My seventh grade year was the last year that the school was called Havelock Junior High. I played clarinet in the school band since seventh grade and even played on the Junior's Bowling League. Then suddenly near the end of my ninth grade year (April 1984) my dad received relocation orders to Hawaii. I was devastated, to say the least, to learn I was to graduate as a Kaleheo Mustang rather than a Havelock Ram. Still my heart remained with Havelock, which is why my primary affiliation is the class of '87 from Havelock High School.

cades ago, though, and I'm happy to say I've survived. I've not been the world traveler I always imagined I would be, nor am I particularly famous, at least not outside the walls of the school where I teach, as I'd like to have been. I did however, have the very fortunate opportunity to live in Japan, not once, but twice for a total of seven years. I am also very lucky to be the mother of two very amazing young men, 18 and 13 at the time of this writing. Currently, I teach second grade at our neighborhood school, a short one mile commute. {Can't beat that with a stick, y'all!! :) } I say 'currently' because I started out teaching fourth grade, and at our school, one never knows from year to year what grade one will be teaching next. Still, I've been fortunate enough to be in the same grade four years running.
