Dawn's Story

Life I still live in sometimes sunny California! I have one son, named Michael. I know some of you know I had him as a teenager when in the 9th grade. He is now 24 going to be 25 this January 27, 2008. Since I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in an advanced stage in 2000, I was unable to have anymore children and my hubby and I adopted our babies. Did I happen to mention they're hairy? Yes we adopted 2 sweet doggies. Since 2000 and my diagnoses, I have done a couple rounds of chemo, and have since 2002 been in remission! I have had several surgeries since that intitial major one in 2000, when they actually found the ovarian cancer and had to do a complete hysterectomy. Actually a total of 7 major surgeries due to the cancer, scar adhesions and repairs to my abdomen from all these surgeries too. I guess once they cut through your abdomen and muscles there you are just never the same. It's a tragedy but I can live with. I have figured out that I have had a surgery a year for the past seven years. Okay, sorry about the bummer stuff here! Moving on! I am married to a wonderful man named Steve. We've been married for about 11 years now. We live in a condo we own in Anaheim California so as you see I didn't move too far from my childhood area. In fact, my parents still live in the same house there in Cerritos to this day. I think they'll be there till the day they die. It's still a wonderfully beautiful house too. I go to visit them alot! My hubby does laser light shows for concerts, events, some rodeos too (he hates those!), amusemen...Expand for more
t parks all over the United States, and alot of shows in Las Vegas as I'm sure you can well imagine. He loves his job..It's not too bad for me either, I do get into alot of places for free, have met many rock legends, and traveled with him and got the chance to stay in some wonderfully expensive hotels I could never afford on my own. That's the only thing that stinks sometimes about his job is the travel. He is gone alot of the year. I do get to go sometimes but with my health it's not always plausable. Plus since we did adopt the dogs a few years back it's no so easy anymore to just pick up and go along with him. I don't really like leaving them in a kennel and there is not always someone to take them for us. I used to work but am currently disabled. I did however go back to college last year so that my brain wouldn't turn to mush. College I went back to Cerritos College this past year and am taking just my general ed requirements. I have an undeclared major still. I guess I still don't know what I wanna be when I grow up! Workplace I am currently not working as I am disabled. I did work for years as a Desktop Publisher and part-time Graphic artist. I worked my way up in a company called GTS Graphics that actually put textbooks together from start to finish. I mostly worked on the college textbooks there but the company did all grades K-12 as well. I started there as their part-time receptionist years ago and worked my way through a few positions there like media specialist and onto Quark Operator and Desktop Publisher.
