Phyllis's Story
Life
I have 3 wonderful and beautiful children. Well, not quite. The youngest is 23 and just graduated from college. Henry and I are located just outside of Oklahoma City in a suburb of about 40,000. Strangely enough, I love it. We have made so many friends since we moved and all of my children are living in the area. Henry and I are Sonic Drive-Inn franchisees and are a part of 4 drive-ins here in Oklahoma. My oldest son Chris played college baseball, has a wife from Edmond, Oklahoma named Korree. They have no children as of yet, but I have 3 really cute granddogs from those two. Chris has decided to continue on with the family business and will be opening a new Sonic of his own in about 5 months. My second son Brandon is married and has 2 children. A son named Dawson who is 6 and a daughter named Kyleigh who is 3. I had no idea what an amazing thing it is to be a grandmother. I am so very blessed. Brandon is the Youth Pastor at Highland Baptist Church here in Moore, and has truly found his calling. His wife Lindsay helps with the youth group, is a PTA officer, and does a great job as a housewife. Candace is my youngest and Oklahoma feels like home to her since we moved when she was in elementary. She has been so active and we are so very blessed that she has shared so much of her life with us. She was a Valedictorian at Moore High School, Captain of the Pom Squad, Top Ten Seniors, All-State Dancer, National Champion Senior Leader Squad, and various other things. e University of Oklahoma for her freshman year in college, but had so many friends at Oklahoma State Universtiy, she transferred there her soph. year. At OSU, Candace was on the Pom Squad, pledged a soroity, Homecoming Director, Director of the Pledge Pageant for 3 years, member of the Orange Pride recruiting squad, historian and activity director of the Ad Club on campus, and a hostess for the Addy Awards at the Cowboy Hall of Fame for 2 years. She just graduated this past May with a Major in Advertising and Minor in Marketing. Brag, brag, brag. Don't all of us do to much. But even though this bio says Phyllis, I don't kid myself. My children are my bio. I have done the years of fundraising chairman, PTA president at the High School (2 yrs), and various community activities and boards. But everything pales in comparison with the joy that I have had with my children. I worked with Henry at the drive-inn for about 5 years before having an accident and remaing in a wheelchair for about a year. I have been a housewife for years now and enjoy the hours with the grandchildren, and working with any of the many young people and groups that we meet thru the business and other activities. My Dad went home to be with our dear Lord when I was still living in Jacksonville, and my mother went to meet him 5 years ago. I really miss Jacksonville sometimes and wonder what happened to so many of the class of '73. I have been very blessed with this family of mine and most of my time is spent with them.
