Sarah's Story
Life
I have been, in order: checker, front end manager, bookkeeper at a grocery store; counselor/drill sergeant for high risk youth; deck hand; secretary; programmer/instructor at a radar/ship driving school; a waitress at a beach bar that was like Hooters (only not as classy); and finally, officer in the USN. I Graduated from Texas A&M in Â98 with 2 degrees, one BS in Marine Biology and another BS in Marine Transportation (fish and ships). I also graduated with a third mates license to drive commercial ships (i.e. oil tankers). The Navy gave me a full scholarship so I took a commission to be an officer in the worlds finest Navy. Another highlight, I was a member of the Naval Aviation Choir and was flown all over the country to sing, including the White House at Christmas.

I was stationed on the CONNIE, I was the CSMO, or Combat System Maintenance Officer, and served under the great, and now, Admiral Miller. All I remember about the war is that it felt like I did not sleep for the entire 8 month deployment and all I did was shoot airplanes off the pointy end of the ship. I do know that we dropped more ordnance then any of the other two carriers combined and I had amazing people working for me (they could keep the radars, satellite comÂs suite, computers or NATO up with a ball of twine and some watermelon flavored chewing gum.) I have been on shore duty for the last several years and completed a Masters Program in Information Technology and awaiting transfer to the RUSHMORE after I complete Department Head School in Newport, RI.
