Dean's Story
Life
Hi all
After good ole Grant High. Attended the Coast Guard Academy and studied Marine Science/Oceanography. Even spent a summer at Woods Holes Oceanographic and meet Dr. Ballard of Titanic fame. Also discovered that oceanography doesnÂt pay squat. Upon graduation in 1980, I was commissioned as an Ensign in the Coast Guard and became a Marine Engineer. Sail a Coast Guard cutter (ship) out of Gulfport, MS. ThatÂs where I met my first wife. Got married in 1982 and moved the Washington DC to serve at Coast Guard HQ. After DC we lived in Maine for 5 years than moved back to DC were we had our first son. Left the Coast Guard in 1993 and started work with NOAA in Silver Spring Maryland. I became the project engineer for converting a surplus Navy vessel into an oceanographic research ship. A year later my second son was born. In 1996 congress decided to balance the budget, so NOAA built no more research ship, time to find a new job. Moved to the Maritime Administration down in the big easy (New Orleans) as a program analyst  donÂt ask what that is...Expand for more

She is a cardiac ICU nurse, will my family history that is a good thing. I also got a step-daughter in the deal. She is a real good kid and we get a long great. so now it 2008. I have 3 teenagers around part time. The oldest will be seniors next year, so we're starting to look at the college thing. Will see how that all works out. Well that's to the 2008 update.
