Deanna's Story
Life
I have a daughter,Stephanie married to Billy Cox.4 grandchildren, Ashley, Marshall, and twins, Rebecca and Elizabeth. Daughter Rachel married to Andrew Gamel who works for Texas Tech. She is a kindergarten teacher. They just had a new baby girl, Hannah Grace. Son, Jonathan, divorced. He is looking for a job.. I was married for almost 31 years to David Burnett who died in 2000. Been in Texas since 1982-Tarzan, Lenorah, Stanton, Midland and now Big Spring.
College
I went to school mostly at night while raising my kids and working full time. My husband was very supportive. It took a lot of effort but I am thankful that I continued and got my degree. I feel it is a big accomplishment in my life. I don't think a degree is everything but the feeling that I did it (with God's help) makes me feel good.

Workplace
I worked many interesting places before coming to Texas - a model airplane factory, rental equipment business, auto parts store, etc. I came to Texas in 1982 and went to work for a utility company in 1984 first in Stanton where we lived. Then the corporate office moved to Midland so in 1999 I moved too. My husband died in 2000 and the company changed a lot. I got past my 20 year anniversary but before I hit the 21st year, they "phased my job out" which was a laugh but they were management. But God is good and I now have a job at a Junior College in Big Spring where my church is and I moved here in May of 2005. I feel appreciated again.I have been working for the college now for 6 years in the accounting department and occasionally teach a class. I am teaching an accounting class most semesters.
