Deanna's Story
When I look back at my years in High School, I hope that I am remembered with a smile on their face. I was not one who stood out of the crowd, but I did find my own little place in the crowd.
I always thought I would "grow" up (for those who remember me, you will remember that I was very short and tiny--still am, literally the "grow up" was a relative term only) and become some kind of author. My aspirations were never realized, but in my heart, I still have not put it away. It could happen! *wink wink* never say "die".
I have been married for 24 years and it continues to be the happy marriage I always wanted. We live with the house, the 2.2 children and instead of the dog, we have the resident family 'cat'. One might say we are the average family with a little flair!
I find that today to blow off steam, I will go out to grab a quick run outdoors, or if my weather is bad, I will channel surf...I have no idea why anyone would think this is good, but there you have it, that is my nervous energy in spurts. As far as relaxing, I love to sit down to the computer and just play, answer my email, or pop in a great movie to watch, or any of my tivo'd back log of shows. I'm an easy gal to entertain.
My passions in life entail things as large as my family, and small as the mundane things in everyday life. I have found my space in this huge world being happy to be 'wife-mother-friend and co-worker'. Well...perhaps I am fudging a little on the co-worker part....
My life did not fall into the perfect storybook chapters that I always thought it might, but I have embraced all the chapters ...Expand for more
that have been written head on and with determination to make this story come out with the fairy tale ending that we all want. I have many more chapters to add to this saga we call LIFE.
My two children have been the springboard of so many of my life lessons. No one gives you a direction manual for "How to..." and so it becomes a trial and error plan. They are today, young adults and I am STILL learning on this system! One thing for certain, raising children will certainly test your every limit and border you might have. My two children have been some of the biggest reasons for my pride and joys as well.
If I could see any of my high school teachers again, I would love to connect with Joel MacDonald. When I look back at time, I now realize how very young he was! Funny how we thought he was so grown up, mature and person with authority. He was only just a few years older than each of us. I think we were his first teaching job from college. I did like him and his teaching style so much. Seemed like he tried hard to forge a real relationship with his students.
I like to think that after all these years, if you met me today, you would find me to be, in many ways, the same happy person I was in high school, much more outgoing, and a woman of today. Confident, strong and ready to take on the rest of her life with a smile on her face and a spring still in her step.
