Deanna's Story
Life
I went from California beach bunny to a Texas cowgirl and now reside in North Carolina but believe me, the beach bunny is still there.
Moved to Texas in 1995 and went on to North Carolina in 2008. Previous residence was New Mexico. I have suffered the same fate as millions of others, divorce. I've been divorced since 1986. I have 4 grown children. 2 girls and 2 boys. All have flown the nest and live in Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas and New Mexico. All are successful young adults, who could ask for more.
I am a nurse with the DOD and work at Ft Bragg. I'm also an Army Reservist. I have been deployed four times,3 of those for wars. Persian Gulf,Iraq and Afghanistan.
I speak spanish and a smattering of German and Arabic. Mainly an outdoors type but love curling up with a good book to read as well. Not a television watcher but love movies and popcorn!
I am interested in anything historical but am really partial towards ancient history. When I travel anywhere, I must always check out the local history of the area. Scientific technology, solar systems, galaxies, wormholes and black holes fascinate me.
Workplace
Seems like I have always worked in a medical facility. Starting in my teen years as a nursing home aide....Expand for more
I am now a nurse. Recieved my Vocational Nurse Training in the military. I graduated in 1974. I started my steady work history as a nurse in 1987, from that time until 1999, I worked in Critical Care units of three different hospitals. In 1999 I became a nurse educator for cummunity outreach services of Covenant Health System. I now work in a troop clinic on Ft Bragg in North Carolina. I'm also a medical person in the military and have had much experience there as well. I recently completed my EMT-basic course and am nationaly registered. What fun, there is so much I can do. I love learning new things.
Military
Completed my Basic training at Ft McClellan, Alabama way back in 1972. I went through my advanced Individual Training at Ft Sam Houston, Texas then it was forward to Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center Denver, Colorado, from there I finished up the active duty part of my military career at Ft Hood, Texas. Left active duty in 1975.
I have been an Army Reservist since 1990 and hope to retire. I was a medical NCO for a Civil Affairs Unit but now serve in an assistant Chief Wardmaster position in a U.S. Army Hospital reserve unit. I've served in three wars 6 mo, 18 mo and 14 months respectively and served a 6 mo tour in Germany.
