Ken's Story

Life The good stuff: I have 4 great kids (45,42,40,38), I also have 13 perfect grandchildren. Married for 45 years now to Deb, everyday is a new challenge, nothing ever seems to be the same! The Rough Stuff: the fun stuff makes the body hurt as does the not so fun stuff! I've worked too hard, traveled too much and spent too much time in Foreign lands; Rode my Harley whenever I could .. 2017 update: it all catches up...2 tours in Nam, up close and personal with agent Orange have caught up with Me- got the AO "2-fer" , Parkinson's Disease and Ishemic Heart Disease. Couldnt keep traveling and consulting- too much time at the VA medical center so I retired, couldn't safely maintain my balance ... So had to sell my Harleys, and the body still hurts without the fun stuff... sooo, I sold the house, bought a 40 foot diesel.pusher and am full-timing it in the RV, keeping up with the VA treatments at different VA hospitals every month! Spent 7 weeks this summer volunteering in Yellowstone at the Snake River Ranger station, greeting visitors and issuing fishing licenses then a month at daughter's in Utah, a month in Ore/WA with oldest son and then winter back in So Cal. Next year I'll pick another National Park for the summer and spin amongst UT, WY, AZ, NV, .CA, OR and WA the rest of the year. Plan to Keep that up until the PD over-rules me.. Military USMC 1968-1970 Vietnam December 1968 to August 1970 Danang, An Hoa, Phu Loc-6, Hue City, Quang Tri Joined Marines at 17, right out of High School (June 26);2 tours and a Field pr...Expand for more
omotion to Sergeant in Nam at 19, out and back home as a civilian by September 1970, had just turned 20 and not quite ready for the 'real world'. Tried Junior College, tried dropping out, tried Air National Guard, tried living in Yakima, tried living in Phoenix, tried just about everything including being quite a jerk at times, before getting on track. I've spent the last 42 years in the development, application and sales of Microwave, Millimeter-wave and Lightwave transmission and measurement systems. Worked for large mega corporations such TRW and Hewlett-Packard; small start-ups such as General Photonics and Digital Lightwave, taking one through an IPO and success on the NASDAQ-1999. Moved to Florida (Tampa-St. Petersburg) for a few years to run the IPO's sales and marketing team. Had a great place right on Tampa Bay with 90 feet ofcwaterfront..Lived in San Clemente for a few years sinking most of the proceeds of the IPO's success into a dramatic multi-level cliff home (money-pit) replete with , hillside, drainage and mold 'issues'. Spent most of my adult life as citizen IN UPLAND. Head of AYSO in 80's, coached little league, soccer and rec basketball, USSF referee for 14 years, Veteran support: *Disabled American Veteran- life member *American Legion - 1st Vice Commander (2012-2015) *Marine Corps League-member *CA 41st District Veterans Advisory Committee *CHS Alumni Society veterans Chair * Upland Veterans Monument Committee- founding director *Run For The Wall (RFTW)- Board Of Directors and National President.
