Deb's Story
Life
Greetings from the mojave desert....also known as Las Vegas. We came here over 5 yrs ago..and still amazed at times of this place. Although the crime is very high...once away from the strip area...life is somewhat normal. We seldom go to the strip unless friends or family come in. The weather is wonderful and every direction shows the mountains. The sunsets and sunrises are beautiful. I am mother of 4 (1 girl 3 boys)..plus a guardianship of another girl. I have a grandchild that makes it all great. I sometimes think of going back to Indiana once all the kids have left the nest..but they keep returning once they leave ...lol. Life in Vegas is not like it appears on TV. We have over 12,000 homeless to deal with, and no mental health hosp....in this place we really need that. The cost of living is very high..but jobs are everywhere. 6500 people move here each month. me allows. Would love to hear from people back home.We are now planning my Daughters wedding. I am mixed with happiness ( he is a great guy ) and sadness that my Daughter will be leaving home. I think we are ready to leave this city, and I am ready!!!! It is so strange to hear gun shots. I will be glad to leave and excited to see where the next adventure takes us. I do hope we never GROW UP and settle down into a dull life. With the choices we have made thus far, I don't think that will happen. At this point, we are looking at remote areas, sort of the "earthy mode". That would be a complete change. When you visit my profile, please leave your name, it is fun to see who has been here.
Workplace
I was working for 3 years at a small casino area in a local grocery store, but left that job May 25th, when 3 men came in with guns at 7 a.m. I was not working that shift, but it was close enough for me. I am now staying home with my family, pets, and the sun. I am planning a trip back to Indiana with my son Adam, just to visit friends and family.
