Debora's Story
Life.....
Well... here I am a newlywed (less than a year later) and very well may loose my husband to lung cancer. I was devistated with the news on 9/9/08 after a lump on his neck was biopsyed when lung cancer was detected. We won't know how bad it is until our inital visit with the Oncologist on 9/25/08. I love him with ALL my heart. We have lived together for 10 yrs before deciding we were for eachother (actually it was me, didn't want ANOTHER divorce). We had both been married twice before and wanted to be certain this time. I'll update later depending on how I handle the news whatever it is!
I guess there was a class reunion but, I don't see any pictures posted. Did ANYONE attend?
Ok Guys...what's up with this?? NO reunions??
I know I probabally don't qualify to attend one...however, I would like to!
My parents just moved out of Lemont 12/03. Can ANYONE keep me posted?? I would love to attend at LEAST one!!
WILL there be a reunion in 2008?? Was there one in 2003?
School
Oh.... How young and foolish. I can't believe I had a baby SOOOO young. Shouldn't have done that. But, I did. I MADE MY BED, and SLEPT in it. Education is VERY important. I tried to show my children and I do believe I did! All of them have graduated from HS and went on to higher education. They must have seen me struggle to better myself. I got my GED and went on to a community college and graduated with an AA in Business Management. I WAS SOOO CLOSE TO GETTING ONE IN ACCOUNTING!! I think the MOST IMPORTANT thing I showed them is... you can work and go to school and NOT leave them to a babysitter! I believed my children appreciate what I did for them and actually they're doing the same with their children. I was there through ALL their stages. Good & Bad!!! LOL
As I think back, "I WAS STRICT"... Very strict.. and that I can thank MY parents for. I knew the difference between right & wrong and what the conciquences were for MY actions. They showed NO MERCY... It was MY MISTAKE and What was "I" going to do!
I believe that is what is wrong with todays' society. The children tell the parents what to do! And how they can "TURN THEM IN" if they don't do it! Child abuse isn't "You're NOT GOING" or "You're NOT DOING THAT". I believe our teens of today feel "THEY're in control"... the laws are written that way.
College
I was there ONLY for...Expand for more
an education. I was in hopes that some day I would be able to use my degree. The unfortunate part is.... You can't get a job with just a piece of paper.. you need experience to use it. Actually, all that piece of paper shows is that;I went to school.
I have the book learning.. but, can't use it in the real world. I ALSO believe, that I have been discriminated against because of my age. I was OVER 30 when I got my degree and was UNABLE to get a job with IT!
Is this the delima facing the world? If you can't do better than an AA... you can't get a job? Well... not better than McDonalds anyway?
I put 7 years into my college education and all I got was an AA. Yes... A 2 year degree! How was I to put more time in than I had? I had a family to take care of and 2 jobs. I juggled my schedule around my kids, my husband, my house, my jobs and my school. I was ALWAYS there for my kids. They were FIRST PRIORITY!! Never with a babysitter and NEVER home ALONE! AND.. I made sure they were there for my graduation. I believe that dedication to family, work & education showed my kids that "IT CAN BE DONE".
I think my only regret is.... I NEEDED to further my education... More than an AA!
Now I have an empty nest. My husband is an "EX" and my education got me NOWHERE!! Thank GOD I have a job!
My education DID NOT get me it!!
Workplace
Well... the only info I have is my current job. I was unemployed for 3 yrs. ONE LONG HAUL but, my current job was WELL worth the wait! I am an industrial cook in a jail. I work with INMATES...YES inmates. It's NOT as bad or scarey as you may think. I know they're all the bad guys, can you say the same at your job? I LOVE IT... I MAKE a mess... and THEY clean it up, I am just a supervisor when it comes to them preparing the meal. I don't lift a finger. Can you imagine..100+ pound bags of rice at a time? Actually, it's more like 200 pounds per meal. Oh... the amount of food I cook... It discusses me to come home and EVEN think of making ANOTHER meal!!
I work for Los Angeles County Sheriff Dept. Got the promotion!!
I STILL don't have many friends.. that's ok... They don't know what they're missing!!
I LOVE MY JOB... Wouldn't Change it for ANYTHING!! Actually LOVE WORKING!! YEP!! Would go there on my days off if I could!! LOVE MY JOB TYPE OF WORK!!
