Debbie's Story
September 2006 ¿ I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Jefferson classmates! It was pure pleasure to remember old smiles, reminisce and hear new stories. Living several thousand miles from Colorado, even my closest friends are fairly new acquaintances-made within the past decade or two. It was wonderful to return to Colorado and connect with people whom I¿ve known almost all my life - particularly those few of us that started out in kindergarten together ¿ now that¿s longevity!
In school, I was never pretty, popular or athletic. My adult life has been average ¿ fortunate but not award-winning. Never super-successful, I tend to withdraw ¿ to observe others but not place myself under scrutiny. However, now at mid-life, my perspective is changing. Some close friends have passed away. y did not make it to fifty. Various reasons ¿ cancer, aneurysm and kidney disease. Now I feel that being alive ¿ feeling the warm spring sun on my skin, being present to love family and dear friends ¿ is a huge gift. Connecting with past friends ¿ while we still can ¿ is something I value.
So¿I live in Onancock, VA on the other side of the Chesapeake Bay. My husband, Marshall and I have a thirteen year old son and another five (of his) grown children. I work as a facilities engineer with the Navy. In our spare time, we are into art. A retired architect, he does watercolor, while I quilt and do calligraphy. I am also interested in the connection between art and spirit and am an avid reader of Carl Jung and Pat Allen. All things considered, life is good.
