DEBORAH's Story

Studied Graduated (Motherhood always 1st) and BBA,HCA,CMH/C, COTA-L/retired, AAAS, and Teaching Permit (MDE) at Davenport University Last 50 years: On September 5, 1976, I asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart, and be Lord of my life. My husband and I spent a period of time as Youth Leaders for "Word of Life International" I've spent many years working within the professions of "Rehabilitation, Special Education, and Community Mental Health". I've also spent time working in the field of "Community Relations" appearing on television and radio stations. I've worked in Commercial Insurance, as a Risk Management/Fraud inspector. I've also worked as a College Professor, teaching Occupational Therapy Assistant students. I'm a published poet. I enjoy writing and performing Solo Performance. I've been "Chairman of Women's Ministry", "Vice Chairman on Christian Education Board", and worked in other areas serving in my church, along with singing in choir and Worship Music Ministry. I've been married for 47 years. I married Dennis Schutter on June 17,1977. Together, beginning 10 years later, we were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Alyssa who graduated from Quantic School of Business with an Executive MBA and Davenport University with a BBA degree and double major in Advertisement & Marketing and Jennifer who graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a BA degree and International Missions. They are now living their lives as independent adults and are married to wonderful young men of whom Dennis and I approve. I AM VERY PROUD OF THEM BOTH & HAVE LOVED BEING A MOTHER. I also have WONDERFUL GRANDCHILDREN. I was a stay at home mom for many years, and worked part-time. I did this, because I felt I had an important job to do. I was raising Human Beings. Sometimes it was challenging, financially, but the end result was worth it. I LOVE LIFE and THE BEAUTIFUL JOY IT CAN BRING. I have a good life! I enjoy Traveling Us, Canada, Mexico, Alaskan Bush 4 times(Greatest trip - While in Port Alsworth, Alaska, Bear Viewing with our family. Our son-in-law Phillip is a pilot and flew us all to Katmai Na...Expand for more
tional Park Preserve. And over the Land of 10,000 Smokes. (volcano territory), Singing, Writing, Event Planning & Decorating, Entertaining, and doing various Arts. And ladies, I also love Shopping and looking for that Great buy. I have experienced difficult and extreme trials in the course of my life. Some of which: I know what it's like to be a HOMELESS adult (house burned down) I have experienced and seen Abuse. I've been held at GUNPOINT (while working at a foster care agency, a client held a GUN to my head). I know what it's like to be Jobless. I know what its like to be misunderstood and falsely blamed. (As an adult), I know what it's like to be unjustly severely mistreated for years, by three specific people, to the point of nearly SHATTERING me (but God kept me of sound mind & body & God planted my feet on higher ground). I watched as God eventually dealt with them. I've also had the experience of someone trying to BREAK INTO MY HOME, on a stormy night, when I was home alone, and pregnant with my 2nd child. What a time that was! BUT, all of these experiences and many others, have given me a greater understanding and compassion for others, who are going through similar situations, and have allowed me the tools necessary to help those others in their times of Greatest need. Though those times were difficult, and I hope they never happen again, though I've had questions as to why, I know God had a reason and a purpose. I am reminded that EVERY PERSON goes thru difficult situations, at one time or another, in the course of their lives. Those circumstances can cause us to feel weak in our faith and shake our very foundations. As a Christian, God is the one who holds us up in our times of trouble, when we ask for His help. The Bible says: He is our solid rock and foundation and that He will never forsake us, when we know Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. I made the choice to not be bitter. They were character building experiences. Maybe through reading this, someone else's life will be helped. Maybe l have touched other's lives for good along the way, and Yes, I still love life!
