Deborah's Story
First, let me start by saying I am not Mary Lou. I am sure some old classmates are going to mix me up with the other, more popular Sheldon from the class of '67. It was always happening. She was the cute, vivacious, outgoing one everybody knew. She was also very nice. I was the quiet one not too many people really knew or paid attention to. But hey, that was then. This is now so let's move on. I live in Tustin, CA (in Orange County near Disneyland and Angel Stadium) in a condo I bought nine years ago, and in 2017 retired from teaching 4-6 grade special education. I keep very busy with friends and family from church and work. My favorite place on the planet is Honolulu, Hawaii. I love to read and write and I would love to hear from anyone from Morton or Harding School.
In 2011-2012, I underwent chemotherapy for cancer and have now been in remission for 11 years.. I still keep in touch with my Beatlemaniac friends from Morton H.S. and a few others and was just back to see them about a couple years ago. y 16th birthday and the classical radio station in my car.
After graduating from Morton I worked in Chicago for a year, after which I moved to California and attended Chapman College (now Chapman University). Upon graduation I worked in insurance until 1985. At that time I quit work to care for my mother who had Parkinson's. She subsequently passed away in 1993. My father was killed in 1979 when he was hit by a car while crossing the street. While caring for my mother I returned to school and completed my teaching credential. I began teaching full time in 1992. In 2001 I switched from general education to special education and returned to school, completing my special education credential and a Master's degree in special education. I taught school for 26 years.
In my younger days I enjoyed backpacking, camping, and in my forties hiked to the top of Mt. Whitney. I still love to take long walks. My other interests are spending time with friends, going out to eat, watching DVDs, reading and studying and teaching the Bible.
My main focus in life is serving the Lord.
