Deborah's Story
So, here I am back in California 20 some years later. After my first marriage ended I married the most wonderful man who whisked me off my feet and moved me away from here. Ron's in the Coast Guard and we move about every 3-4 years. So I've had a chance to live in some awesome places.
We spent the fist two years in Nassau, Bahamas what a honeymoon. I had my son, Christopher, the first of 2 kids while we where there. My daughter, Marisa, arrived almost 2 years later. Every place we lived has brought us new opportunities, friends, and great memories. New Orleans had the greatest impact on our lives. The culture, food, and the people still influence our lives today. We had so much fun in the French quarter especially during Mardi Gras. I really miss that place (and time).
We have moved several times since then, our kids have grown into beautiful young adults. My son graduated from Kodiak, Alaska last year and is a freshman at Cal-Poly. My daughter graduates this year here in Dublin, CA. I wonder...Expand for more
how many names they'll remember when they look at classmates 25 years from now. I'm sure some names will bring a smile to their face and they'll be thinking the same thing "I wonder what happened to.." Moving has had its drawbacks too; I have really lost touch with a lot of people that have meant so much to me in my life. But I am very blessed with the friends I've found in my travels. Leaving is the hardest thing to do.
I have pretty much stayed in the banking industry, working for several Credit Unions and managing two branches. Since moving back to California I've decided I need a career change. As soon to be empty nesters, I need a more flexible job, one that will allow me to travel with my husband on his business trips. With his twilight tour quickly approaching I am somewhat apprehensive of settling down. It's been a good career so far. We plan on retiring in Tennessee, where we can ride our harleys most the year or tour the country in our RV with the Harleys in tow. Ahhhhh what a dream.
