Debra's Story
Life
My Spouse
My husband, Steve and I met when we both worked for American Airlines. I was a reservation agent in Dallas Fort Worth and he was a ticket and gate agent in Toronto Ontario Canada. Steve is from La Pocatiere Quebec Canada. We were married on 17 March 2000, St Patrick's Day. With a marriage date like that, Steve has no reason to ever forget our anniversary date.
My Pets
I have 3 cats, one indoor cat and 2 outdoor cats. They have all been fixed so there is no problem with feline over population. The indoor cat is Puddy Tat Poudraut who is a male Abyssinian/Stripped Tabby mix. The outdoor cats are short and long hair mixed breeds name Runte (he was the baby) and Chloe. The cats are all my "other children".
My Kids
My daughter Ashley Angelique is very athletic and artistic. She was a star lacrosse player and a long distance cross country runner while at Trinity High school in Euless, Texas. She graduated in May 2004. She is presently working as a receptionist at dk salon and as a waitress at Barcadia Bar and Grill in Dallas. She still has desires to enter the art and fashion world. She is my angel.
My Job
Presently, I am working at Lowe's Garden Center as the Live Nursery Specialist. I decided to go back to school to study Horticulture at Tarrant County College and get my A.A.S. degree. I'm having a great time in an area that I love. I don't know when I will receive my degree since I have decided to work full-time and go to school part-time.
School
My school years were within the time that desegregation took place. I attended an all black elementary school and junior high until I was in the eighth grade. At that time in 1965, I decided along with a hand full of students from Fred Douglass High, to attend the predominatel...Expand for more
y white junior high school, Jacksonville Junior High. After junior high school, I attended Jacksonville High.
I was a good student thru out my school days. I had several friends and relatives who were my classmates. From the days of Fred Douglass band practice and Mr. Davis on the field to being voted the 1st runner-up in the Miss JHS Homecoming Queen contest. School is a place that opens up the doors of curiosity into the world.
College
I believe college was the greatest time of my life. I met different people, made different friends and had a great time. The learning wasn't bad either. :-) I learn what it was like to grow up without boundaries. I learn a lot about myself as well as the world around me. I was very happy to receive my BS degree at what was known then as North Texas State University. In the spring of ¿73, I became a member of the Zeta Phi Beta sorority. Hey, Yeah, Bruce Hall and the Home Economic Building. College was a lifelong experience that I will never forget.
Workplace
My first job was with Braniff Airways. I was a flight attendant with Braniff for 8 years. I flew domestic and international trips out of DFW and LAX. I was also a flight attendant with Muse Air based in both DAL and HOU. I have worked in retail for Express and Saks Fifth Ave.
I worked as a Software Quality Assurance Analyst. I tested computer software, client servers and applications and web based applications. I have worked for American Airlines in reservations, training and as a soft-ware tester. I have worked for SABRE, Inc as a QA soft-ware tester. I have also worked for a web based legal e-access and e-filing company called CourtLink (JusticeLink) and a POS (Point of Sales) company called Breakaway International as a QA Assurance Consultant.
