Debra's Story

Life Hi, Since I was last on Classmates I have been working as a substitute teacher at Portsmouth Christian Academy. I subbed in grades from K - 12. Our daughter will enter the high school this year. Our son is going to be a Junior at University of Southern Maine at Gorham. I also have my own sewing business and am very busy with that. I make garments from the beginning or I do alterations and lots of mending, etc. for those who either cnnot do it or do not have the time. My hobby is to make doll clothes for the 18" doll (like American Girl). Jim and I do craft fairs in the summer and fall. We also sell Avon and have since 1993. We just recently made the President's Club. We are very involved in our church, Eliot Baptist Church, and live our lives serving our Lord and Saviour. I teach 3rd & 4th grade Sunday School, boys and girls, and love it. It is such a wonderful thing to be involved with young people. I also teach in Ladies' Bible Studies periodically. I am involved in a knitting/crocheting group that meets while our kids are at youth group. We make comfort shawls for those experiencing a loss in their lives or going through a devastating illness. We also supply the local hospice with these shawls to give to those suffering through the ends of their lives. I have come to the love of cooking late in life and have great fun with that. My family enjoys the end results, usually : ) I also have a new love for birdwatching. Not the kind where you go traipsing through the woods but the kind where you put up a feeder and see what comes. I never have gotten to be a fan of exercise! : { My daughter and I are going to start walking every morning. I do not get to Mexico very often any more because most of my relatives are not there any more. At least the ones I was close with and would want me to visit regularly. Both of my parents are passed away and both of my grandparents are gone. I have one aunt and uncle living in Mexcio and a sister living i...Expand for more
n Rumford. I am not sure about cousins. My in-laws live in Belmont, NH now so we head that way most of the time. I have made connection with Cindy Swett in the recent past. we have been to each others homes and such but it is not a very close connection. My family tends to take up most of my time and that is really how we like it. Between them and work there just is not much left for sociallizing. Our son, Zachary, is an awesome basketball player and will be play ing for USM this fall. He was on the team last year but had a separated ankle and did not get to play. His high school team went to the state chanpionship in NH and ended up losing in the final game by 13. What a heartbreaker that was. He is studying business and is a really great kid. He has a great summer job and spends lots of time with us as well as his myriad of friends. Our daughter, Abby, loves to read and is in the midst of To Kill a Mockingbird for her required summer reading. She will be in advance literature this fall and will love it. She and I enjoy watching reality shows together!! : ) She also plays the piano, is a great writer, has many friiends and is a beauty(if I say so myself). I would especially love to hear from Pam Cummings. Remember our talk on the bus one time about serving God and why. I will relate to anyone that we, as a family, do not have much, never have, but God has blessed us richly because we have always had Him as the center of our family. My greatest prayer for my friends from high school, really anyone, is that they KNOW the love of their Saviour Jesus Christ. There are so many of you that I should have been a witness to that I was not. Please forgive me for never sharing the greatest FREE gift anyone could ever receive ( you just have to accept it - it is not automatically given). Read John 3:16 and think about what it means to you. Put your name in the verse. Jesus died for you, He rose for you and He is living for YOU. I hope to make connections.
