Debra's Story
Just a short blog to bring things back down to earth: What a learning experience this past month has been for me and what wonderful opportunities still remain. It's as if my life suddenly put me at peace with the world whatever my financial ups and downs continue to be. It's all about the friendships and family, folks, and being able to wake up the next day feeling good about what you've accomplished. Got my clinical license now and some nice opportunities coming my way... It's a good thing... :)
So now for an update:
::dancing:: I have my house to myself again and I'm enjoying my kids, my dogs and just being myself again... Some people just take longer than others to get it that life is what you make it. And I'm finally able to breathe again.
Working with a friend to start a mobile mental health service (I should probably be the first in line)... but no, wait, I almost have my clinical license for Nevada, too! Can this be? Is my life actually going right? ::gasp:: lol. yup. Anyway, I've got two months to study and pass and then I can really do what I set out to do in the first place.... Anyway, if you want to catch up... I'm all ears and very happy to feel sane again... Take care all....
My previous installment:
Okay, so it's been like forever since I even thought about high school. How nice to see how others have turned out.
As for me, I started life out with a big bang in Los Angeles and ended up in Las Vegas, divorced, with two special needs kids, one, 25 now finally engaged and ready to move out and a 16 year o...Expand for more
ld who's a genius but socially clueless. Guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree as they say. I've also had a "significant other" for the past almost ten years and who, now, begins to feel like a third kid. :) (Just kidding, dear).
I've been living here in Vegas for the past 6 years and brought my dad to an assisted living apartment complex near me about 2 years ago. For anyone who knew my mom, she passed away in '97 with Alzheimers. I also share my life with two neurotic dogs which fit right into my chaotic famimly life. (I wouldn't have it any other way.)
For anyone interested, I'm a California clinical social worker by trade, so of course I don't live in the state where I'm licensed. What I do have is a growing biofeedback practice and a part time job with a family services agency offering home-based support services here in Las Vegas, foreclosure capital of the universe. You can visit my professional website at The Brain Train Center. braintraincenter.com (a work in progress) or thebraintraincenter.com. ( I designed the sites myself)
I'm occassionally still trying to "find" myself and constantly challenging everyone to help me look with love and laughter. In the end, however, even though I've come out of my shell, I think I will still always be that wierdly quiet girl who sat in class, simply watched the world and smiled.
I look forward to reconnecting with old friends and ones I probably pissed off when young, so please, feel free to email me and let me know how you are, and let's start over again. :)
