Debra's Story
I grew up in Hawthorne. Schools that I went to. Started at Cabrillo, then over to Anza for 1&2, back to Cabrillo for 3&4 then over to Peter Burnett for 5&6, then across the lawn to Dana for 7&8. Graduated from Dana in 1968. The next 4 years were spent at Hawthorne. Did a lot of hanging out not working for awhile.
Memory is not as once was so may forget some things. Places that I've worked! Work for Pathcom (not sure if that's correct). They made and worked on CB and two-way radios at the time. Oh forgot in March of 73' I also got married. Under one roof for about 4 1/2 months. Didn't think about divorce no income. But in 79' it became final! My next job took me into the Hotel/resturant part. I was a cashier/hostess at Airport Park Hotel (the building is gone) that lasted for 1 1/2 years. The next place was another hotel. This started out as a Travel Lodge later upgraded to Viscount Hotel. Almost lasted 10 years working at thhis one. Left it in December of 90'.
In January of 91' the next place I worked at was a bank(change of venue) it was the best job so far. That lasted up until middle of May in 94' when my folks decided to move. To where you might ask? To Carthage, Missouri for the past 16 years! This house is much bigger than the one I grew up in. But lots of family are around in diffe...Expand for more
rent towns. My parents both have family here! My Dad grew up in Jasper, and my Mom just outside of Carthage in Kendrick Town. My 2 older brothers and my sister also live close by.
Did some little jobs to get some money. First job took me to Wal-Mart. Started there on May 1st of 95'. Was there for almost 3 years. Next and current job takes me to Taco Bell. Started here June 9, 1998 and am still here. I do the drive-thru window. Take orders and collect money. It's a job that gives me a paycheck every other Friday and I guess that's fine for now. My energy is not what it used to be. I am now 56 and not ashemed to say so.
I can't quite remember everything but guess it's been a good one. I never married again so am still single and it will stay that way. Too much stress!! I've got lots of neices and nephews plus great neices and nephews to keep me busy. I go and see my sister very often. I consider her very important to me. Well guess this is enough. If the girls that remember me would put maiden names along with married that would help me recognize you. Some did and thanks for that. I got out my Yearbook and found a few people.
This is goodbye for now talk to some later. Another 72' grad saying hello!
Debra Rice saying see ya later take care!
