Debra's Story
Life
Frank Tarkany and I got married in 1986. We have four children, three girls and a boy. Our eldest, a girl, is in college (she skipped two grades.) She is also a massage therapist although I never benefit from that:o) . One just started high school. She is in the FFA and plays bass drum in the marching band lol(She's so little!), our son, is in third grade and I am home schooling him. He wants to be an artist someday, and a three year old daughter who has Frank wrapped around her little finger. We live in the rural part of Lake Elsinore and Frankie commutes.I recently became a doula after strenuous and emotionally draining schooling and am going for childbirth educator at the moment. We have tons of pets including a horse (soon to be horses), and a pig named Margaret Susanna O'swinery. Trying to convince Frankie to allow me to get more reptiles... Still best friends. Still madly in love :o)
Update: Renting out our house in elsinore, rinting a house in San Diego. Miss my animals, not the heat!
College
I went to San Diego State and learned that people are essentially clueless. Kids were acting like it was a free-for-all anything goes world now that parents were no longer "in the picture." The majority of the kids I met were completely am...Expand for more
oral and so different from the people I was used to. Totally different from Gompers. I know that Gompers wasn't exactly the "house of virginity" but these people were... I don't know. I (unfortunately?) dropped out because my health was getting really bad. It started in Mrs. Schlesingers in 10th grade actually. I had no idea what it was but found out at 21 that I have MS. Would I go back to school if I could? I don't know. I have done other schooling and I go to classes at the JC now and then but I think I am pretty happy.
Workplace
I started out working atGompers as a teacher's aide in the Russian class I stopped when I got pregnant with my first child. I went into nursing at a convalecent hospital for retarded adults but once again had to quit due to pregnancy-I dealt with many who had hepatitis B and didn't want the risks. I worked for the census bureau in 1990 due to boredom. I had my own cleaning business in SD but didn't renew my license after we moved. I paint portraits for people, and now I am a doula ,someone who helps a woman in labor in various ways too numerous -and probably boring to you- to name. It is something I think I was made for. It is both enjoyable and rewarding. Update: Still a doula, now train dogs as well.
