Deme 's Story
Life
Howdy folks, long time no see. I have lead an interesting life since I left high school. I went to UCD and took up music (classical/keyboard music) and psychology. I had to drop out here and there but finally got the job done :-)
When that was done and over with, I got married and had a kid. Believe it or not, I went to college with Matt Vaughn and also saw him at the hospital when I had my baby. His wife was having twins when I was having my little girl. I have since then been divorced. The guy that I was married to left me for another girlfriend. I started seeing someone else after 9/11!
In the fall of 2004, I will be going BACK to school to take some business classes and hope to open up my own business when I am done:)
School
In a nutshell, I have pretty much described my school bio in my life bio but I guess one thing I wanted to say is that if I could do it all over again, I would have spent more time planning for prom. I live to regret not going to prom because I did not do enough planning ahead and that meant that I should have been planning to go my Jr. year to better my chances of going period.
But other than that, the best memories I had were being in the homecoming parade, being in the Parade of lights and then singing in the county choir when I was a senior. That was just TOTALLY UNFORGETTABLE :-)
The other milestone of my school days was getting accepted into college and then actually getting to go there :-)
College
It wouldn't surprise me that once a few people read this that my front porch becomes the latest media circus (just kidding). I went to UCD and took up music and psychology. While in college, I was involved in the Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship and with COPIRG. Ralph Nader (who is now running for President) came to our school and did a speech to campaign for protecting the environment. Kip Winger came to our school and did a speech on his career. I had the chance to rub shoulders with him and then Patrick Mazey from Yes came to our school. I've also met people such as Micheal Sweet from the group Stryper, Wellington Webb, Constantine, Steve Kelly and Jake Schroeder.
While going to college, I worked Temp. Work Study jobs for the admissions office, the TV and recording studio, the Aur...Expand for more
aria Library Media Center and then I worked for the Auraria Book Center. I also spent some of my time working for Elitch's in the summer time where I was a Customer Service Rep and a theatre usher.
While I was an usher, Ray Charles came to the park to do a concert. Bernie McNulty was one of the ride supervisors there at the time and Tim Nicholas worked in the rides department as well but he was not a supervisor like Bernie was.
Speaking of Elitch's, for those of you who worked in the rides department, one of the ride operators by the name of Tom St. James got his Masters degree from DU and then Robert Lowe (from Northglenn HS) got HIS degree from DU as well. If they can do it, I suppose I could do it too but it costs $$$$$$$$$$$$$ to get your Masters from DU! I went to school with Tom St. James as an undergrad and our upper division courses we had together had a grand total of five students in each class. Go figure:)
Getting back to my life profile, my life has been very interesting and fast paced since I last set foot in the doors of Ranum High :) One thing I learned when I went to school is that work is just as much a part of school as school itself :)
Workplace
Working 9-5 - Oh what a way to make a living. That line I think holds true for everybody (unless, of course, this sucky economy leaves them unemployeed). Right now I work for a marketing firm downtown in a nice tall building where I get a nice view of the mountains and skyscrapers on my lunch break and I just love it. I have always had a thing for tall buildings and being up high where you can see the sky :-)
In my spare time I do tutoring and sell burritos for a little extra cash when business is slow at the marketing firm. Sometimes the job is like a roller coaster. We are either swamped to no end or dry as a bone so there's no point in even trying to find a balance any where :-)
I will be attending business school this fall and hope to do my own business when I graduate. I still plan to do tutoring and selling burritos on the side but what I want to do as a "real job" is prepare taxes, billing, bookkeeping and other accunting duties. I have taken accounting before and really enjoyed the work so I think this would be a good expansion for me to go with :-)
