Deitri's Story
Life
I got married to my husband Mike November 2002, four months later, we found out we were expecting our first baby. We had a girl named Kayla and we had her on our anniversary! Being a parent has been a wonderful experience so far. We still live in Cantonment and had another girl in May 2006 named Mallory. I'm very happy and things have been going great!
School
I didn't do very well my first two years of high school because I partied so much and really didn't take school seriously. I finally started trying harder my Junior year but by then the damage had been done with my GPA. I wish I had been more involved and played softball or ran track. I regret a lot of things about high school but I guess the only thing I can do know is learn from it. I wanted to go away for college but my family couldn't afford that and I had messed up my chances of a scholarship. I went to PJC on and off part time since graduation. get my degree in Business Administration. I'm just waiting until I can save some money so I can go back and finish.
College
I haven't finished college yet but I plan on taking 2 courses at a time after I go back to work and we get adjusted. I didn't go away for school but I did live with my sister, my best friend, for some of it. I enjoyed college and am looking forward to going back.
Workplace
I work at Amsouth Bank. I have been here for over 4 years. I started off part time while I went to college but went full time when I moved out from my parents house. I wanted to go back to part time and go back to school but I got engaged to Mike and needed to save money for the wedding. I love the people I work with even though the job itself isn't that great. I'll probably be here for a while. I quit for a year after I had the baby then went back part time. One day I'll go back to school and get a better job but this job is nice for just part time.
