Del (James)'s Story
Started at St. Francis in the second week of fifth grade. Had attended Fitler then transferred. Was the James Conner with the "er" not classmate James Connor. We were the "Milk Boys" that first year I was there. I was the one who would decorate the blackboards with drawings when we had class parties. the art for parties. Can't remember her name. I did the cover for our graduation Year Book which featured a small airplane. Should have been a jet liner.
It was humiliating that first and second year, having not had any religious training, each day I was sent to the first grade for first communion classes. The next year, in sixth grade, I would go down to sit with the then second graders for confirmation classes. I remember I had trouble fitting in the smaller desk.
