Delete's Story
Life
Hello all from DHS. I left Dover in 1983 and did 21 years in the Navy. I retired in 2003 and remain in Virginia Beach, VA with my daughter. I plan to return to NJ some day, when my daughter is off on her own. Until then I'll continue to enjoy the beach and mild winters that VA Beach offers. I'd enjoy hearing from anyone back at "home".
School
I had a lot of fun while in Middle and High School. I miss those care-free days and deep friendships. As far as memories specific to DHS, I suppose Graphic Arts Class with "Brother Ray" Weinerman and my fellow hooligans tops it off as most fun. Art Classes with Mr. "K" were most rewarding. I enjoyed most. Mr. Fernandez was by far the most influential of all the DHS staff. Don't know where I'd be today if not for him. It's amazing the difference a few choice words can make in the life of a wayward teen.
Military
I'm glad, for practical reasons, that I stuck it out in the Navy and stayed long enough to clock a pension. I had lots of fun and adventure--lived a thousand lifetimes. Travelled all over the world and had a lot of influence over a lot of young people from all over the country. I had a lot of hard jobs and at times the commitment was all-consuming. Then one day it just ended, as suddenly as it began, kind of strange. Now I'm back to being Dan again--and liking that.
