Delores's Story

We Are Still Alive Spartans Reading This Page! Many of our parents were in the WW2 time of trouble. Many of them worked long hours, like my Moma and Father, in mechanics, riveting work, seems like hot metal was the norm for their times. My Father only made it to 53. He was a Army Corporal, Sniper and had post-trauma, which, of course, wasn't recognized much back then. He travelled the world...more than almost all of us. I' m glad our American Army.gave him the opportunity to see most of the lands his Families came from! My Moma lived to 61. Her work during the war led to rheumatoid arthritis and heart weakness. Both were loved by many, including my 5 Children and I. I come from a line of Grandparents that delivered many Babies and I contributed as a Midwife in that effort until the mid 80's, when Witch-hunts were rampant and almost all the doctors in the L.A. area, that worked out-of-hospital in natural birth were set-up by those wanting our patients to pay them, instead...The struggle for Freedom to choose how our B...Expand for more
odies will be treated, in birthing, continues to this day. My Babies and I were mangled during my 2 hospital births with forceps and over-medication...that's what led to my calling as a Midwife.3 joyous and Blessed home births to remember! I have many relatives that have a similar calling as I. It all stemmed from my Grandparents! I love reading your stories..Sad to see some no longer with us..Peggy Dougherty was so funny and sweet, Alan Bissett..hard to believe that big guy is gone...Rex...such a sweet guy..smiling all the time...and I never thought Judy would be without her Mr. Dunbar. Love to you all, even the Jehovah's Witnesses who won't talk to me anymore, even though I took so much heat for helping deliver their Babies outside of the hospital, so they wouldn't have to worry about losing their Children, if a Blood issue occurred and they refused the blood. Maybe someday you will realize the real reasons why events took place, and, appreciate that a True Midwife stood by your side in Childbirth. Delores Doyle.
