Delores's Story
I Am Delores Higgins, the class of 64 from Spooner High School. After High School I went to college and taught school at Elk Mound WI. I married Chuck Amans and we had two children Mike and Sandi. I moved to Mpls where he was employed when the school year ended. I worked at the Big Sears store in the credit dept. I then moved with Chuck to Washington where he was offered a job with Boeing . Then he was offered a job back in Mpls with a division of the space program. We ended up in Mikana when he went into business for himself and I started working at the Spooner Post Office. 0 1/2 years and then became Postmaster in Birchwood for over 20 years. Chuck passed away in his 40's of a massive heart attack at the races in Rice Lake where he was the head judge. I married again to John Orsund of Birchwood and we had so much fun. He was such a joy. He was almost 20 years my senior and I lost him after 10 years of marriage. I recently remarried , retired and moved to Chippewa Falls . I married Rick Cartwright who has a lot of the qualities that john had. We live on the south side of Chippewa Falls and have a cabin and three boats on Red Cedar Lake in Mikana and love fishing.
