Denise's Story
Life
After graduation I attended Oakland University. In 1994 I married Erik Stevens (Dondero 92). I graduated from OU in 1998. In 2000 we moved to Holly.
We had a baby girl on December 3, 2003. Her name is Rebecca Lynne.
Thanks to Classmates I have gotten back in touch with some great friends including Jim Smith, Rob Kopple, Chris Crandall and Walt Storrs. Yes, I am the same person I was in high school - still flirting with all the guys.
School
I attended Troy Schools through the end of 1st grade. Then moved to Madison Heights & went to Madison Schools through the end of 9th grade. I moved back to Troy & finished high school at Troy High.
I'll be perfectly honest, I was glad to move back to Troy. I made a lot of great friends at Troy High, and have gotten back in touch with some of them through Classmates.com. Anyone who knew me from Troy High probably remembers me as a huge flirt. I still am. I'm almost afraid to find out how anyone from Madison remembers me LOL.
College
I attended Oakland University from 1992-1998. I had to take a little time off when my husband had knee surgery & was off work for a few months. Then I went back part time for a...Expand for more
while, and finally decided to take out a student loan so I could go full time & finish my senior year. I have a BA in English with a minor in Journalism. I would really like to get a Master's degree, but I haven't decided what I want to major in. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up... if I ever grow up :)
Workplace
After high school I worked as a waitress at several restaurants while I was going to college. During my senior year of college I worked as a Public Relations Intern for Warren Consolidated Schools. I loved that job, but unfortunately they couldn't offer me a full time position. From there I went on to work at Meridian Advertising. I wrote K-mart ads. Woo hoo! I was a copywriter on the offshore team. We did the ads for Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Alaska & the Virgin Islands. After I moved to Holly in 2000 I got sick of driving to Troy every day. So I got a job with Prudential Chamberlain-Stiehl Realtors in the Marketing department. I wrote newspaper ads for them. I was laid off in December 2004, and spent 3 1/2 months on unemployment. I worked as an Assitant Manager at Avenue for a while. Since then I've been working at Teacher's Discovery.
