Denise's Story
Life
Well, it's hard to decide where to start....
After graduation, I moved to Richmond to attend Virginia Commonwealth University. Mrs. Whitehurst recommended VCU for its art programs. So after debating with my parents over studying painting or sculpture, we settled on fashion design (for it's practical life applications). I suppose they didn't want a starving artist moving back in with them after college. :)
After my freshman year, my then current beau Clifton Woods (class of 89) and I decided we couldn't stand to be apart so he moved to Richmond and enrolled at VCU to pursue a busness degree. We shared an apartment and a year after graduating college we got married. We've been happily married for almost seven years now. Wow, time goes by fast! We don't have any children, yet. Right now our dog is enough of a handful!
Clifton will be completing the MBA program at VCU this December. I currently work full-time at a software development company in Richmo...Expand for more
nd as the Operations Coordinator. It's a type of office management position. I work to ensure that the basic functions of the company get done with as few glitches as possible. God knows there would be a crisis if we ran out of stick-on notes!
I also have a part-time home-based business called Definitely by Denise. I design and create custon clothing. I've been commissioned to make everything from bathing suits to business suits, and wedding and prom dresses to lingerie. My favorites though are wearable art pieces! If you remember what I used to wear in high school, this would come as no surprise.
So my life is pretty full. I would love to have my sewing business run full-time, and I'll charge after that dream again when Clifton finishes school.
I'd love to hear from you! Even though I'm in Richmond, my family is still in Shawsville. So, don't hesitate to ask if you want to get together.
Reach high, climb far. Your goal the sky. Your aim, the stars!
