Denise's Story
Life
Denise Wleklinski Zak born August 17, 1968 died July 12, 1993
Upon visiting Classmates.com, I have decided to add Denise to the Class of 1986. I am her oldest sister, Diva. Denise had a very active and fulfilling life the short time she was here. Her numerous friends remember her as very athletic and gave 100% in all that she set out to do. During high school she earned MVP for Basketball, Volleyball and Track. After her accomplishments in high school, her success continued after graduation.
Denise went on to Roosevelt University in Chicago and earned a paralegal degree. She worked for Grecco, Pera and Bishop in Merrillville, IN as a personal Paralegal Secretary for John Pera.
In 1988, she met Jeff Zak, a 1988 LHS graduate. Jeff enlisted in the Army and completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. On March 24, 1990 Denise and Jeff married. JeffÂs first orders were at the Schoefield Barracks in Hawaii where he and Denise quickly scurried off to begin their honeymoon / newlywed life. Denise got a job as an Executive Administrative Assistant at a medical firm. She gave ...Expand for more
birth to a baby girl named Megan on March 28, 1991 and a boy, Jason on August 15, 1992. We were all excited for October Â93 as the Zak family was going to be returning back to the states after a 3+ year stint in Hawaii, however, on July 12, 1993 Denise died suddenly in her sleep from unknown causes.
In 1996 we discovered a family genetic disorder called Prolonged QT Syndrome which we are only speculating was the ultimate cause of DeniseÂs death.
Megan and Jason are well and living in Alabama with Jeff and his new wife, Denise (ironic, isnÂt it?) and their son, Christian. Megan works all the time and is 3rd in her class. She will be getting a full scholarship to the University of Alabama Birmingham to major in Bio Medical Engineering. Jason is 6ft and 200lbs and smart. He loves football.
The Âthen photo posted here is DeniseÂs senior picture and the Ânow photo was taken 8 days prior to DeniseÂs death on July 4, 1993 at a family picnic in Hawaii.
