Dennis's Story
Family: Married to Herma (44 years), three children, five grandchildren.
Career: I retired at the end of 2020 after almost fifty years in the manufacturing sector, managing in operations and technology areas. I was also an adjunct faculty member at Macomb College in the late 80's. For the last fifteen years of my career, I was a senior solution architect and delivery consultant for Plex Systems, in both implementation and pre-sales roles, focused on large enterprise and global organizations.
Hobby: Making 18th and early 19th century furniture using only hand tools and period methods. I’m kind of a nut about the subject and avidly study the history and techniques of pre-industrial woodcraft.
Other: I'm on the Board...Expand for more
of Directors for the Society of American Period Furniture Makers and a volunteer docent at Greenfield Village in season.
Travels: Since becoming empty nesters, we've visited much of the USA including Hawaii and made numerous trips around North America and Europe. Between personal and business travel, I've been to France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, England, Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Greece, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, and China - most multiple times - and have flown over a million miles in the process. Not bad for someone who in high school never imagined seeing anything more foreign than Windsor.
