Dennis's Story

I was an Air Force Brat and lived in France 3 years and Germany 4 years on two occasions. I went to High School 2 years in Paris France and 1 and I/2 years in Frankfort Germany, before going to Assaria Kansas, for my last 6 months to Graduate. Three days after graduating from Assaria High School, I joined the Air Force in Kansas City Missouri. My Base assignments were: Lackland AFB in Texas, Keesler AFB in Mississippi, Castle AFB in California, Goose Bay Labrador in Newfoundland, and Dover AFB in Delaware where I was Discharged 4 years later. After going back to West Virginia where I am from, I got a job offer at Linkirk Electronics in California where I worked for about a year. In 1966 I went to work for Pacific Bell in California as well. I retired in 1996 after 30 years, just before Pacific Bell was bought out by SBC. 18 months later SBC asked me to come back as a contractor, which I did for another 7 years. During that period, SBC purchased AT&T and changed their working name to AT&T for obvious reasons. I married Denise Yvette Alcione in April, 1967, and we are still married today. hased our 2nd vacation home in Lakeport California. We still retain our original home in Millbrae that my wife inherited when her parents died. We are in the throws of selling our Warehouse in South San Francisco, where we kept all our extra cars and 33 foot Sportscoach Motorhome for 20 years. As our years advance, so do our needs, so we are selling off those material things unnecessary to our lifestyle going forward. We collected cars in our younger years and find it kind of ridiculous to keep then without using them. When it is all said and done, I figure we should end up with three vehicles, total, I hope, LOL. I figure we can concentrate on our new home at Clearlake and getting settled in and start enjoying our retirement as it is meant to be, relaxing a little, any way. It seems retirement is busier than work. I would go back to work in a heartbeat, if given the opportunity. Just to keep the Brain active. It is my belief, that when you stop thinking, the body gives up too! Too much idle time makes you sit around too much and the body deteriorates, the mind also. Good luck in all your endeavors.
