Dennis's Story
After high school, I attended Crafton Hills College and studied to be a paramedic and took general college transfer courses as well. I also go involved in theatre after taking some theatre courses at the college and I worked two summers in the Redlands Theatre Festival doing tech theatre. I worked as a paramedic for a few years then went to study nursing at San Jose State University; I've been working in nursing ever since; 26 years at this point. When I graduated from the nursing program in 1987 I realized that there was a national shortage of nurses and that I could work anywhere, so I started moving around a lot. After working in San Jose, CA, for a few years I joined the federal government and went to work in rural Alaska. ng with the Indian Health Service, the VA and Air Force. I then did some contract work for an agency doing 13-week contracts at hospitals all over the country. I worked in Florida after hurricane Andrew in 1992. The states where I spent the most time after HS were New Mexico (3 years) and Alaska (8 years), and Oregon (10), which is were I now live. I'm a bachelor, never married and no children. It seems like I have one or two close friends from everywhere I've lived that I still stay in touch with and I am grateful for that. I'm in touch with only one or two old friends from southern CA and I visit the San Bernardino area from time to time. When I get out of the Ontario airport and the dry, warm air hits me it still feels like home. Feel free to send me a note if you like. I enjoy hearing from old friends.
