Derek's Story
Life
Attended North Texas State University in the Fall of '85. Transferred to Texas A&M for three semesters then came back to the newly named University of North Texas in Denton. Stayed in Denton for the next 13 years. Started working for UNT in the housing department as a desk clerk then accounting clerk in the main office. This was from 1989-1999. Married and divorced Dawn Williams (whom I met at the school) during this time. I also got in a rock and roll band during this time that played Deep Ellum for a bit. Graduated with a BA in History from UNT in August 1993. Met present wife, Jena Isham from Richardson, working in the Housing Department in 1996. ort for Tivoli Systems in Austin. Tivoli is part of IBM. Moved to Southwest Austin in May 2000. Got laid off from Tivoli Systems August 2001. Doing tech support with Unisys now. Have no children as of yet. Stayed friends with Matt Martin (who still lives in Denton) for most of this time. Also still in contact with Kim Spurlock (Turek) and Steve Creech. Lost touch with Mike Crumb after he moved to Idaho in 1988. Did see Tony Martin for a 10 year reunion party at Kim's for the last time and he had married. Also contacted Tim McKenzie briefly but have not heard back from him. Angi Rener and I dated until I left A&M and she stayed there while I went back to UNT. Still draw cities and maps and cartoons. Still sing and would like to start another band here in Austin.
