Derek's Story

Howdy y'all! No, that's not a mistake, I have been living in Texas since 2001 and absolutely love it here! Low taxes, cheap real estate, inexpensive gasoline and SUN!, SUN!, SUN! I've died and gone to Texas! I operate the main data centre for Texas Instruments and I love my job. It's kind of like the military...hours of boredom them moments of sheer panic when we start losing systems. I've been married twice, c'est dommage as ol' whats-her-name...you know, the French teacher would say. I served as a Canadian Military Engineer for 6 years and now I'm a Staff Sargeant with the Texas State Guard. I'm blessed in being able to have served two countrie...Expand for more
s, and I have recently started the paperwork to become a U.S. citizen. I've done many things in my life, raised three kids, two of whom were mine, travelled extensively through ten different countries on four continents, experienced things many people will never see or do such as stare down the barrel of the AK-47 of a belligerent Arab soldier, explore the deserts of Syria and Jordan, hunted Grizzly bear in the Rockies, scuba'd in the Gulf of Eilat and so on. I could almost say I could die tomorrow, but I still have much to experience and accomplish. I'd love to hear back from all y'all, especially those I used to be close to...you know who you are!
