Derek's Story

Derek J. Tomalty's story-hour: High School was not very enjoyable for me...Once I graduated (Thanks, Hal...for passing me in gym! RIP) It was off to SUNY-Binghamton...I turned down the Honors program at SUNY-Platsburg-but that's water under the bridge presently! At University, I started coming down with mental illness? THIS COMPLETELY ALTERED THE STORY!!! I presently live the MI lifestyle...'cocktails' of medicinals and living day by day? Before I was diagnosed I never knew anything about MI that wasn't taught in Health class? MI is real enough and it can effect anyone with the genes! And the stigma is there: Fuuny Farm, Crazy Person-THESE ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE! I currently advocate for the MI through The National Alliance On Mental Illness...G...Expand for more
o ahead, give some dough to NARSAD to see these illness a thing of the past? Or at least see A Beautiful Mind? MI costs this beloved country BILLIONS and the Human costs outweigh the economic costs...That's the facts! In college I found my calling as a Philosophy Major: I loved it! However, I was already sick with MI...so college was not the best days of my life!! There were Medical Withdrawls, P/F courses...anything to graduate? I miss college these days-I'd like to go back and get a masters degree in Comparative Religions? I've given some thought to becoming a Uintarian-Universalist minister? I've grown greatly through my illness-What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!! I'm on my laptop, which was a good investment...And that's my story!
