Dewanda's Story

Life I now live in central Arkansas, have been married for over 25 years to my best friend James White. We have a combined family of four daughters and one son that have given us a total of 11 grandchildren (including the "steps") ranging in age from 26 years old to 6 years old, 7 grandsons and 4 granddaughters. They are scattered from Texas to Virginia and Nebraska. I recently left work due to health problems and I do miss it (most of the time, anyway). Until then I was Administrative Assistant to the Director of Customer Completions Administration at Dassault Falcon Jet Corp., a company that builds corporate aircraft known as Falcons or Falcon Jets. It was a very interesting job, with contacts around the world due to the aircraft owners, executives, pilots and support personnel coming to that department for progress reports on the aircraft being completed for them. The deliveries of the completed aircraft are done in that department with the dignitaries from both the company and the customer's company being present. There is a ceremony and presentation with each delivery. Some of them are quite impressive. These aircraft cost around $30,000,000 when completed and are incredibly beautiful. My husband is an aircraft maintenance technician specializing in Hawker Jets, now built by Raytheon, so our lives ...Expand for more
pretty well center around aviation. My husband was the FAA Aviation Maintenance Technician for the year 2004 for both the Little Rock District, and the Southwestern Region which takes in several states. It is a big honor to even be nominated for the award - it is a nomination of peers. Personally, I think he should have gotten the national award, too, but as they say "Two out of three ain't bad!" We build and fly radio control aircraft as a hobby and are teaching two of our grandsons (ages 10 and 8) to fly them also. My husband is a licensed pilot with his multi-engine rating. Life is good, family is wonderful. I still miss the ocean and the beaches, even the fog. I visit Coos Bay and the surrounding area as often as I can, but it isn't often enough for me. We had planned to make the trip to Coos Bay this summer, bringing two of our grandsons with us so they can see "where Grammy grew up" back in the "stone age" as they consider that era. Those plans have changed, I will make the trip in September with my sister-in-law. The boys have made several vacations with us, including many trips to Florida on the Gulf. We do still plan to bring them to Oregon, but it will have to be at another time. Next year the summer trip is planned for the east coast and our nation's capital. We think they will enjoy that, too.
