Workplace In the summer of 1978 I worked for a short time at a restaurant called The Big Yellow House. I found out I wasn't cut out for the restuarant business. In the fall of 1978 I was going to Kirkwood Community College. I worked part time at Menards until March of 1979. I worked out in the lumber yard which was ok most of the time. After graduating college a got hired in the summer of 1979 as a seasonal worker by the City of Cedar Rapids at the sewage treatment plant. I worked in the maintenace department. The work I did mostly involved repairing equipment. I wasn't much of mechanic so I wasn't well suited to the job. In September of that year an operators position opened up and I got hired.
