Dian's Story
My story?…..pretty standard stuff….graduated from Christian College and University of KS, married Rich Guthrie shortly thereafter. I taught high school French 3 years , then took a 10 year hiatus to have 4 babies. I returned to teaching at the opposite end of the age spectrum……preschool and loved every minute of my 35 year career. Rich worked for SWBell, did lobbying which gave us the opportunity to be involved in state and local politics.
Although I will always be grateful for growing up in a small town, we love the small city vibe of Kansas City where we’ve lived the last 34 years. plain at our church and as a volunteer baker for KC Hospice House. Our greatest joy, though, is our 12 year old grandsons, one here and one in Nashville.
I’ve been fortunate to travel internationally, reveling in the culture of other nations. I still love to prepare most of our meals, although we take full advantage of the fine dining, ethnic cafes and sports bars that KC has to offer.
I joined Classmates after finding my long untouched memorabilia box in the basement. My high school scrapbook struck me with a tsunami of memories: most were pleasant, some amusing and a few poignant.
I would be delighted to hear from anyone out there from Erie High School who might like to share memories. Let’s do this while we are still able.
