Diana's Story
I moved to Olympia, WA in 1988 to attend The Evergreen State College, and I¿ve lived here ever since.
I was married to a British citizen, Andrew Austin, from 1997-2004. I don¿t have children, but I do have a needy striped cat, Bobcat.
I graduated from Evergreen in 1993 with a B.A. in Communications, Psychology, and Political Economy. I worked at KAOS Olympia Community Radio as Program Director while a student.
Since 1990 I¿ve worked for an agency that provides support to adults with Autism and other disabilities, in their homes and out in the community.
I¿m an audio engineer, and I recorded the festivals YoYo a Go Go and the first Ladyfest. I recorded bands at YoYo Recordings and Dub Narcotic studios in Olympia, including Dub Narcotic Sound...Expand for more
System, Halo Benders, Al Larsen, Nikki McClure, Mirah, and Sandman.
I produced a radio show at KAOS Olympia Community Radio from 1991-2008, called Free Things Are Cool, and hosted hundreds of live bands and did interviews on the air, including Beck, Kimya Dawson, Lois, Modest Mouse, Jonathan Richman, Elliott Smith, and Howard Zinn.
I was filmed for two music documentaries this year, appeared on the cover of a local paper, and I¿m participating in a book on Riot Grrrl.
I nearly moved to Portland, OR in May of this year. I¿m still in flux about moving away from Olympia, or maybe going back to school, or trying other work.
I¿ve spent my free time this year getting into Yoga, Body Pump, taking a Statistics class, and working on writing projects.
